I'm having trouble with Premiere 6.5 and its audio playback. I've found that if I scrub audio in the timeline, it will no longer play when I preview my timeline. The only way I've found to get it to work again is to close and re-open my project file, which is less than ideal. My sound card seems to be working fine (I'm able to play audio in iTunes etc), so I don't think this is the issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is part request for assistance and part request for somebody to tell me I'm not going crazy. I've checked the comm memories, and haven't found anything related to my question.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I have read through a lot of community memories and FAQs, and have asked some fellow vidders, but I have a current conversion issue that I can't seem to find an answer for, despite my poking around....

Adobe Premiere 6.5 saves my project (songvid) as a humongous .avi file with no problem. I have tried saving the project as an online version, but it gives me an error message of "Missing Codec" and won't save it. I was given advice to download and install the K-Lite Codec Pack; I did so, but still get the same "Missing Codec" error message when trying to save as anything other than a humongous .avi file.

If Premiere doesn't like my old and new codecs, what program do I use to make these same humongous .avi files much smaller so that my dial-up friends have a chance to see them someday?

Thanks for any recommendations! =]

I've looked through the memories and dug through various tutorials and I've managed to find things on how to erase just one colour or how to super-impose still images but can't seem to find any tutorials that I can follow for super-imposing. Basically, I just wanted part of one clip to show up in another, so it's super-imposed not a fade, but I don't seem to be getting anywhere by following the Premiere user guide I have and although I've been trying to figure this out for weeks now, it appears I'm still too dumb to do so. If anybody could just give me a dummy's guide to how to do this I'd really appreciate it because I don't seem to be getting anywhere. Thanks.

What would be the best alternative to Adobe Premiere for Win XP?

I've had it with Premiere (keeps crashing, won't extract properly, causes multiple nervous breakdowns) and I need a replacement.

I'm having an issue importing files into Premiere Elements and was wondering if anyone else was having this problem. I'm using Elements 1.0 and I'm importing files I have downloaded off of a Torrent site. Now, I can import them into the Bin fine, even view them in the monitor, but I put them in the timeline and all I get is black and no sound when I view the timeline. I've tried re-installing with no luck and all of my codecs are up to date. Any thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm using Adobe Premiere 6.0 to make a vid. I make .avi clips in VirtualDubMod and keep them in a file on my C drive, then import them to Premiere.

Problem is, my C drive isn't very big, so whenever I make a vid, it nearly kills my computer. Every time I near the end of a vid and have a lot of clips, I have to find stuff to delete in order to have space. ...Until today, that is! I finally got tired of NEVER having space, bought a shiny, big (to me) external hard drive, and set it up. :D

My question is, can I move my current .avi files for the vid I have in progress from the main C drive to the new E drive without wrecking my vid? Will Premiere be able to find them? (Or, if not, can I tell Premiere where to find them?)

I haven't done anything yet because I'm afraid that I'll move the clips, then open Premiere and find a big, empty timeline where my clips used to be.

So, any advice/info would be appreciated! Thank you! :)

Anyone see this before?

I'm working in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, Windows.

I've got a vid that runs about 4 minutes -- not short, but not the longest I've done. I exported a draft version to Windows, using settings I've used a zillion times before.

At about the 3 minute mark, the picture suddenly degrades drastically. Up to that point, it's beautiful - suddenly, it's all blurry.

It's not the source. Some of the same source is used earlier in the vid.

I tried exporting just the last minute, using the same settings -- and it's fine. The problem only happens when I go to export the entire vid.

Anybody?

So I recently moved to Premiere (my WMM died so I'm taking the big leap) and I have a question. I make a vid, export it, and it comes out HUGE. I mean 30 seconds is about 250MG. Most frustrating since you can't really upload that kind of thing online.

I know this must sound like an obvious one but I've looked around and (like many very simple Premiere issues) there's no answer I've been able to find. Is there a setting I'm missing? Does it take another program?

Also, I use VDub to cut my clips (since Premiere doesn't play with my torrent-ed .avi files) and they all come out HUGE as well. I mean I cut like 10 seconds from a scene and the file is, once again, 250MG. I don't mind it that much cos I got some space and it's taught me to watch twice cut once but I was wondering if perhaps that too is fixable. I usually mark the clip I want and do File->Save As AVI.

Thank you, any help mucly appriciated!!

Hey guys!

I'm trying to make the switch from WMM to Premiere, because Premiere is kind of orders of magnitude better, but when I upload .avi files into Premiere, I only get the audio tracks, not the video tracks. I've tried this with files from all different sources, and had the same problem every time. (All these files play fine in WMM and WMP, so there's nothing wrong with them.)

Has anyone else had this problem with Premiere? Any suggestions for dealing with it?

Thanks a ton!

I'm working in Adobe Premiere Pro and I was wondering -- if I uncheck the "frame blend" option when I select a clip, will some kind of horrible consequences befall me or my vid?

I'd like to turn frame blend off because when it's on, it's very easy to end up with stray frames... but I don't know if this means the clips will look jerky or strange.

Any advice would be appreciated.

For those of you suffering from memory-related problems when editing avisynth files in premiere, you may wish to read my post about it on my lj here.

"After dropping OS X support for Premiere some time in 2003, Adobe is bringing it back in the new Adobe Production Studio. The new software includes After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Encore DVD, and Soundbooth, and will be available for Apple's Intel-based computers in mid-2007; an updated version of the Windows suite will ship at the same time."

Adobe Premiere 6.5, the last version for OSX, was released on July 7, 2002. It was designed to run in 10.1 but it also worked in 10.2 (as far as I know).

I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro, and for the first time since my use of it, it refuses to import clips.

I've tried:
1) Shutting down the computer and restarting
2) Starting new projects
3) Checking the Virtual Memory and ending as many unneeded processes as possible
4) importing several different files.

Nothing works. I'm completely flabbergasted. *pulls out hair*

I use Adobe Premiere Pro, and I'm extraordinarily confused why my AVI clip, which includes audio, does not play its audio when inserted in the timeline (but the video portion does work). Now, if I play the clip by itself without inserting it into the timeline, it does work, both video and audio. So what's going on? The audio is not muted, and is enabled.

I've pretty much scoured the internet trying to find out why my avi files won't play properly in the timeline on Premiere Pro, and I've found didly squat. So I figure my best option is to transform them to mpeg files instead.

What are your reccomendations for programs to convert avi to mpeg? Also, what kind of mpeg should I conver it to (there seem to be several different numbers) ?

I'm making my first vid, and I'm looking for teaching tutorials. I am using Adobe Premier Pro, and all my clips are either .avi or .ogm files that I have saved already in full episodes on my computer.

I looked at the info in the community memories, but it was not detailed enough. I'd like to know if there are any tutorials out there that give step by step instructions on how to use Premier Pro, starting with how to cut clips from larger files. If it had pictures of the Premier Pro workspace along with the instructions that would be even more helpful, since right now I'm looking and the screen and it looks like another dimension or something.

I'm also very interested in learning how to convert .ogm files to .avi or .mpeg files.

I have a Premier question: When you export your project into a movie, is there something you can do to get the quality higher? I find whenever I change the speed on a clip, the quality gets distractingly bad.

Perhaps a clearer head than mine (which wouldn't be hard at the moment) can figure this out.

I had to reinstall Premiere 6.0. Added a bunch of new codecs after the install. Some new. Some not. Premiere is seeing only some of them. VDub sees all of them, and Premiere's ancient sister, 4.2, sees all of them.

There is one video codec missing in Premiere 6.0: Microsoft MPEG4 V3, but the glaring ommissions are the audio codecs. Nothing but the defaults. I added in DivX Audio, and an MPEG3 codec.

VDub sees them. Premiere 4.2 sees them. Is there any reason why Premiere 6.0 can't see them?
