I'm having an issue importing files into Premiere Elements and was wondering if anyone else was having this problem. I'm using Elements 1.0 and I'm importing files I have downloaded off of a Torrent site. Now, I can import them into the Bin fine, even view them in the monitor, but I put them in the timeline and all I get is black and no sound when I view the timeline. I've tried re-installing with no luck and all of my codecs are up to date. Any thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are they encoded with DivX or XviD? I'm thinking that's a yes, considering you downloaded them from torrents. You need to convert them to something Premiere can work with, i.e. uncompressed or DV AVIs, or if space is an issue, WMVs.

VirtualDubMod is probably the most versatile for AVI conversion. You can use the Windows Media Encoder for high-quality WMVs.
