Well, I'm a vidder who's only recently joined the community. I was burned pretty badly on a couple of vidding mailing lists and haven't cared much for hanging out with other vidders since, but this seems like a pretty easygoing community, so...here I am. I do take my vidding reasonably seriously, but I'm really not interested in the same-old, same-old "digital vidding versus VCR-to-VCR" type flamewars. I vid mostly in X Files, although I've just finished one for an Australian mini-series and I'm working on ones for Harry Potter and Cider House Rules. I also like to watch Buffy and Once A Thief vids. I like both interpretive and intuitive work, but I tend to work on the literal-interpretive side myself.

My video site is at http://video.deslea.com - of the ones there, my favourites of my own work are Gravity Of Love, Standing In The Way, Pray, and Did We Not Choose Each Other. Those are all X Files. The first two are Krycek/Marita, the third is a Marita POV on the mytharc, and the fourth is Doggett/Reyes. The other one I really like is one I've just finished, for the mini-series Brides Of Christ, themed on Catherine leaving the convent. Hey, guys, I'm here to pimp--er, plug another lj community called squee_bin. j_crew_guy just started it as a place to trade the rare and squee-able in episodes, movies, etc. I thought members of vidding might be interested, as we so often have a hard time hunting down that one last bit of source for a vid... squee_bin doesn't have a lot of members yet, but we're hoping that as it grows we'll get a bigger base of stuff to trade in, so please, join in!

Look at me, I've been asking you guys to post and promote your own vids, and you've been doing these nice introductions, and I haven't done so myself yet.

I'm a very new vidder. I'm more or less a slasher, and I've been watching vids for a few years now, but I never felt the inclination to make them, until one day I suddenly found an obscure song and I *knew* it perfectly fit the slashy Joe/Billy relationship in (the relatively obscure movie) Hard Core Logo, and oh, how I wanted to see a vid of that. But nobody would make it for me, and I asked and I asked for months. So I figured that if I wanted to see it, well, I was going to have to make it myself.

So in February I made Flower (zipped RM file), to Pansy Division's punk cover of Liz Phair's song. The lyrics are very very VERY explicit, the song is catchy, and the editing sucks large jagged rocks in several places (*coughPOVproblemscough*), but many people seem to like it anyway. Watch for the knife-licking. Warning: explicitly sexual language, some violence, visual spoilers for the end of the movie.

I also vidded Wherever You Will Go to Jurassic Park 3, slash. I'm thinking nobody else saw this movie. It has dinosaurs and slashy people, and that's about it, really. My editing got a little better. No warnings on this.

My most recent vid was made in July, and it's the one I'm happiest with. I vidded Sorry, by Nerf Herder (of Buffy theme song fame) to X-Files, Mulder/Krycek slash. I am told that it's not your typical M/K vid, and I am also told that it does things with irony and meta that I had no clue I was doing when I made it. I'm very happy with it. Warnings: a bit of the old ultra-violence, minor sexual references in the lyrics, includes clips from "Existence."

My current vid plans are almost all Due South slash and gen (and one Sentinel gen one), and I dream of one day having access to digitized dS (and maybe TS) so that I might actually make them. (My VCRs are not spiffy enough for analog editing, nor are my tapes good enough -- I can vid only from DVDs or other pre-digitized source.) If anyone knows a source for digitized dS, you would have my eternal gratitude. Really.
