1. Tag your posts. As you make your posts in the  community, please remember to use tags. A complete list is here. If there is no tag for your fandom/vid/topic, use the modreview tag.

2. Help Tag Back Posts. We periodically ask community members to pitch in and tag back posts with existing tags. No need to sign up  - just start scrolling back and click on 'edit tags' and add the tags from there. If a new tag is needed or you have a question, tag the post - modreview and we'll catch it on the next sweep. We need help with 2012 -2014.

And don't forget - posts from earlier years (before tags were implemented on LJ) can be found in the memories section

Info here (link is safe). We've already had two comments in posts here in the vidding community which I deleted.

edited: the videos may -or may not - not be spreading malware  (see comments), however, please excercise caution with clicking on unfamiliar/spammy videos. And if you see any spam videos in the vidding community comments, let us know.

If you've left an anonymous comment in the past few months and it hasn't shown up, drop a link to the post. It seems we haven't been getting notifications of them so we can unscreen them. We've reset the community so that the comments do not have to be approved - if you see spam, let us know (again with a link to the post).

LJ has set the vidding community to 'moderate all messages.'  Until we can get this switched back, I'll check every day to approve messages so there may be a short delay in seeing your post on vidding. Currently, access to the community settings is giving us an error message. I've left a  support request.

Edited: we may have found a workaround. If you have posted an entry and it does not show up within a day, please leave a comment or email us.



 Recently LJ turned on a new feature that marks comments with links to non-white listed websites as spam  and screens them. This is due  in part to their attempts to deal with LJ being the source of spam messages and being put on the Spam Watchlist.   Unfortunately, LJ didn't notify community owners or journal owners that this feature was  turned on by default  a while back.  The other problem is that the journal owners and community moderators receive no notification that a comment has been screened as spam. And there is no easy way for owners to find the 'marked as spam' comments.

Examples of non-white listed websites: well pretty much any place that isn't large or commercial.  If you link to AO3, fan websites, vidding sites etc your comment will be marked as spam.

We've turned off this feature but  the only way for a moderator to find a "screened as spam" comment is for the original poster to let us know.  I went back  one week and did a manual post by post search and unscreened a few comments from community members that had been marked as spam. If you were told your comments were being screened, please provide us with a link to the post and we'll check it out. Ditto if this happens moving forward.

This comes up only rarely, but when you post a request for technical help and then the community offers help, please do not delete your post. Other may benefit from reading about your problem and the offered solutions. If you're concerned about visibility, lock the post so only community members can read.
