OK. Some background info before my query :)

I am a medium skill vidder (imo). My fandom is basically the works of Ewan McGregor, so much Star Wars vidding but also all his other films, TV work and slideshows of the pretty (although my eye does stray from time to time ;D)
I am using Windows Movie Maker and have no funds to speak of to spend out.

I have recently read and taken on board some very sound general advice on vidding principles - not least of which is that editing to either shorten or rearrange a song is a GOOD THING quite often. Now I went searching for a free or reasonably priced application and found Fleximusic Wave Editor. I 've been able to chop a song about a bit, but with zero level of accuracy and nowhere near good enough to use. I'm drowning here! I am not a musician, so I so wonder if the technicality of it will be totally beyond me anyway.

My QUESTION is:
Does anyone have any advice or can point me to tutorials for Fleximusic Wave Editor so that I can test it out while my trial period with it lasts?

OR are there any other recommendations of applications that are simple to use and that come with tutorials for the complete beginner in this field?

In this and in all aspects of vidding I want to make progress, increase my skill level and audience enjoyment, and I really would appreciate any advice that anyone can come up with. I just hope it won't fall on stony ground ;D

Thanks in advance :)

Sorry, can't help you with the FWE, couldn't even find any good tuts.

I've just started using Audacity as I'd heard good things about it, not the least of which is that it's Freeware, which should suit your budget. ;) You can get it, or information about it, here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

And then, if you are interested in Audacity, general info/tuts can be found:
http://www.transom.org/tools/editing_mixing/200404.audacity.html
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/manual-1.2/tutorials.html
http://www.edhsonline.org/other/audacity/
http://digilogue.net/audacity/

Hope this helps. Maybe? :)

Audacity tends to work very well for me as well. I don't think it is too difficult since my wife has even been able to use it and she's kind of techno-amish.

This is just off the top of my head, but I know that A&E and Ermac's Friendly Tech Guides (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtech/) have a section on editing audio. Even if it's not exactly the same program, it might help with the principles.
