Has anyone yet switched to Premiere Pro 2.0? Can anyone tell me anything about its features, in particular as compared with Pro 1.5? I like to stay current with my software ... but 1.5 is working so well for me that I'm feeling reluctant to switch unless 2.0 has some great new features that 1.5 doesn't, or some other big advantage.

Thanks!

I like it a lot -- it just seems more straightforward than 1.5, and more sturdy, too (it hasn't crashed on me once!)

But -- I haven't been able to vid with compressed avis at all with it; it seems much pickier than 1.5 was. With 1.5, I could dl episodes off of BitTorrent, uncompress them with VirtualDub, and poof, Premiere would be fine with them. 2.0 just holds up its nose at the very idea.

Not a very technical, or helpful, review, was it? [g]

Lithium Doll was just talking about 2.0 - I wonder how she has fared with avi files?

Really? I am able to import them just fine. I don't need to uncompressed in Vdub at all, (the Bittorent files). 1.5 did not like Xvid codec, which most of the DL files usually are. I DL and import and it's magic.

Actually, I just recently discovered a massive, MASSIVE improvement in 2.0, which is that you can natively edit mpeg-2 files. That is, if you rip VOBs off a DVD, you can load them up into premiere 2.0 and it will index them and let you use them immediately, as is, without conversion. *win*

....Really? Holy hell, my mind is imploding from the possibilities (no more conversion! no more compression! -cheers-) ...I'm so getting 2.0. -nodnod-

I adore it! It's made me a very happy vidder. And most of all, it accepts Xvid with no problem. And so far, no crashing. It's huge though, file size around 924 MB. The interface has improved a lot and gives it a sleeker look, and user friendly.

With APP 2.0 I had no problems importing .avi files, but I did have trouble playing back the render, and it is probably due to not enough RAM, so I went back to 1.5, of which I've never had an ounce of trouble. Must have the world's only version that doesn't crash! LOL! I will try 2.0 again if I can afford more RAM as I liked the preset feature and stuff (can't remember now, too long ago :-S ) but apart from that I didn't find it much different.

Give it a go, you can always go back if you don't like it :)
