I have an idea.

It takes a lot of time and effort to vid, right? And fanfic writers have their 100 word challenges and their drabbles, so why not have something similar for vidders?

My idea: A challenge. I (or anyone else who knows how) will cut a song to be about 1 minute in length. Then, you procede to make a vid of it. :) If enough people are interested, I can do a different song for each person. You can give me a particular genre of music/fandom, and I'll edit a song to fit the length.

My questions for you: Is this a good idea? Does the time limit sound good or should it be longer/shorter? Anyone interested?

I was originally thinking about this with regards to the Smallville fandom, but if anyone is interested let me know. :)

I would paticipate, if I could. My fandom is Buffy, however.

I know people who do vid drabbles--and honestly, if you have video editing software, you can usually swing a bit a sound editing.

The problem is, it's hardly worth it. For the investment you put into a vid--how much source you need to capture, how much space on your drive, the software, the hardware--three minutes isn't really all that more effort than one. Vidding has high overhead.

I don't vid - yet - but it sounds like fun. :) One of the best times I've had doing anime vids was a fifteen-second-long piece I did for a group project. Of course, I already had all the source on my HD from a previous project, so it didn't involve too much work to set it all up.

Anyway, nice idea. I'd like to say I'd take my first stab at vidding something, but my hard drive is still too full of other stuff at the moment to start ripping video.

A little longer, I think. Most songs, you can get a verse and a chorus in on one minute, maybe. i have one sort of like that: "Sweet little Sheila."

I think it's a great idea, and I'd definitely participate. I do, however, think a minute is too long. When you think of a drabble in fanfiction, it's much smaller and takes much less time than a longer, average length story would. So 100 words where you might normally have between 3,000 and 10,000. So, to keep that persective, maybe 20-30 seconds? I spend a long time on that amount of time in my videos, sometimes days, so it'd still be a challenge -- but it would be an actual drabble of a video, not 1/3. Does that make sense? Bah! I'm tired. Let me know if you end up doing it, and if it's open to all fandoms (which I think would be a good idea, considering vidding isn't as popular as fanfiction).

If you don't end up doing it, or decide to do a fandom-specific one, let me know, because I'd be willing to.
