I have an iBook G4 right now, and I would like to use Final Cut Express HD (I am not sure if this is even possible; my computer might just not be powerful enough to run the program at all effectively). When I try and clip from big episode files right in FCE, my computer gets extremely slow and pretty much freezes up. I used to be on a PC, and used VirtualDub to clip .avis; I know that QuicktimePro can do this, but I don't want to pay for the upgrade or wait for it to be shipped to me, I'd prefer something for free that I can just download. So I guess what I'm asking for is an equivalent of VirtualDub for Macs *aside* from QuicktimePro.
Any help or advice is appreciated! Thanks.
