Okay, this is my very first fanvid. Any concrit or advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated, as I'd like to get better, obviously. :)
Title: "When I'm Gone"
Artist: 3 Doors Down
Vidder:
kaci_2005_tide
Fandom: The O.C.
Summary: Ryan and Seth keep leaving each other.
Pairing/Character: Ryan/Seth (slash, obviously)
Footage From: Seasons 1 & 2
Format: .wmv
Size: 61.8MB (If there's something I'm supposed to do to make it smaller, I'd appreciate if someone would tell me. Like I said, this is my first time.)
Special Thanks: to
ank_the_tank and
eckerlilas for being my beta-testers and for holding my hand through this entire thing. Without their helpful suggestions...well, I don't want to even think about how it would've turned out. :)
Download it: here. (I'll be x-posting the vid to
theoc_slash, sorry if you see it twice.)
EDIT: I've been informed that the megaupload link isn't working, so I reuploaded to YSI. Here. I'll re-upload upon request.
Okay, now. I have two questions that I would be forever thankful to you for answering if you could. I am using Windows Movie Maker to make vids, and for some reason, it won't let me edit clips any shorter than 4 seconds long. If I try to make them shorter, it simply refuses to. Is there some special way to go about doing this? Secondly, I've seen vids where the actual footage is silent while the song plays, and then in one or two spots, the vidder has allowed the voices of the characters in the vid to come through over top of the song. I tried to do this, and even used the help menus in an attempt to figure it out, but any time I changed the audio balance thing for one clip, it changed it for the entire vid. Is there a way to do this that I'm missing, or do you have to use a program other than WMM? Thanks for any help you can offer. :)
Edit: This vid now has a permanent download think here. It is also now only 13.6 MB.

Date: 2006-01-16 06:02 am (UTC)As far as the sound, what you need to do is balance the sound somewhere in the middle so that both the music and the dialouge comes through, and then right click on the sound part of the clips that you don't want to hear dialogue on and mute them. :)

Date: 2006-01-16 06:11 am (UTC)I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong with the clip length. I'm using that whole trim clip thing that the help menus show you how to do, but it won't go any smaller than 4 seconds. Maybe I've missed something. I'll have another go at it later. :)

Date: 2006-01-18 04:18 am (UTC)*shrug* it was no problem. Once upon a time, I too couldn't shorten clips that short and then I found the god-send that is the magnify button!

also regarding my icon, I realise you're a hufflepuff but I don't have that version uploaded currently :P
