I've always used Windows Movie Maker in the past. Clips would stick occasionally, but it was manageable. I brought PowerDirector a few days back and it's almost impossible to actually edit clips because the program refuses to play them through without sticking.

Does this happen to anyone else, and if so how do you work around it?

Ugh, Power Director. I used that program for almost two years and it was the bane of my fucking existance. It almost NEVER plays clips thru without sticking, therefore making it next to impossible to get your timing right without using a LOT of trial and error. I actually had to save entire vids multiple times over the course of editing them together just so I could watch them straight thru without lags.

I found when I was using PD that it would preview fine for the first 30 seconds or so, then start lagging, so SOMETIMES if I restarted the preview from the point where it started lagging it would play the next 30 seconds properly, but that only worked about 10% of the time.

My advice? Get another program. Using Power Director will just make you want to hurt things.
