My birthday is coming up on the 30th (yay for turning 19!) but we're celebrating it on July 15th since that is when 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' comes out. My older sis mentioned that one gift she wanted to get me was a better editing program.

Which is good since Windows Movie Maker is... okay. Good, not great. Yet what should I upgrade to? Just looking for recommendations is all. Feel free to point out both pros and/or cons of whatever program you mention. ^_^ Thanks in advance for the comments.

I'm envious, I was struggling with WMM today and just got *nowhere*. I hate that it randomly works at times and then won't at others. *sigh* I'll need to keep an eye on this post and see what people suggest.... I need lower end price range though. =\

The one tip I can give is a "no" for Adobe Primiere--it's way too picky to import files and there's so many options that it's hard to control, IMO. Otherwise... I'm unfortunately not very familiar with stuff. ;;U_U

And how about how it handles importing videos? This is the trouble I've run into before while experimenting with other programs. And would it accept *.wmv format? (that would be a bonus... I could finally change my old vids)

The other problem I tend to run into is that the program itself just works too slow... it'll stall. And I have just recently cleaned out my computer, I scan weekly for viruses.... So I don't think it's really my computer. =\ I just want to check about any odd quirks, y'know?

Thanks for the recomendation. =)

Hm. I may just be confused here (I apologize -_- I can do stuff better than I can understand conversation with it *L*) but when I've worked wiht WMM I import my Dead Zone or Stargate episodes into it.... and then it makes it into the shorter clips. Er, am I going to have troubles? o.0;; (And if so, how do other people make this work?) I'm just a little concerned when you mention only 1-5 minute files. =\

An early Happy Birthday to you! :) Me, well I highly recommend Adobe Premiere Pro. I've worked with many editing programs (Vegas, Avid, Pinnacle, etc) and this one remains my favorite. If you wish to produce professional-lookin vids, then you can't go wrong here! ;) Although, be sure it's the newest "Pro" version, not regular Premiere.

LOL! Sorry about that... things have been busy here. I was also away for a week on my first cruise. Whoohoo! :) You should download MSN messenger. I am on that one a lot more often.
