Okay, yesterday's problem is solved. Today's problem is that Windows Movie Maker is not letting me import the .avi files. It's not even giving me a missing codec message. It just says it cannot be imported. So. What do I need to get .avis to import? Alternately, what is a good program for converting .avi files to .wmv if need be? I use Vista.

I did look through the memories, but the information was a couple years old so I wasn't sure if there was maybe something better out. I'm looking for easy, safe freeware.
