New annual vid awards site open

The Fourth Wall, an annual vid awards site, is now open for submissions. A vidder may submit any one vid he or she created in 2007. There are three categories, with a winner and several shortlisted vids in each. Each judge will also pick an Honorary winner from all vids he or she saw in 2007, whether or not it was submitted to The Fourth Wall. We'll post a transcript of an in-depth discussion for each honoree, category winner, and shortlisted vid.

obsessive24 and I look forward to seeing your best work from the past year.

Personally, I'm very excited about the site as a sort of time capsule of vidding in 2007 - how it will help me to remember who was doing what; what was popular; and what I loved to watch. It also gives us a good excuse to cover those terrific vids in glory. :)

The site was constructed by buffyann, and the graphics were made by millylicious.

Meta-vid: "What's New, Pussycat?"

I'm a fairly new vidder, working primarily in the SGA (Stargate Atlantis) fandom. In the past 3 months, I've made just over 50 vids, and have (rather unwisely) uploaded them all to You Tube. Here they are (for now):

Earlier this week, I received a notice from You Tube that one of my vids had been removed due to a complaint from M*G*M of copyright infringement. (So, I expect that soon the rest of my vids may disappear off You Tube, too.)

In response to M*G*M's rabid anti-fanvid policy, I've made the following meta-vid, to express my frustration that M*G*M is so petty as to attack its own fanbase. I've uploaded it to Daily Motion instead of You Tube:

For a corporation whose motto means "Art for Art's Sake", M*G*M ironically seems rather intent on suppressing the creation of non-commercial Transformative Works of art.
