"I Love Fighting Best" is from the musical Shenendoah, and the video is for Gan (35 MB; MP4). This video was made with Suzi Lovett when she came to visit. It's just a fun piece.

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew why the following picture happens?

Sorry about the picture choice - I just needed one with a light background so the borders could be easily seen. This is one of the few.

I don't know if that is normal or if it is because the source footage is in 2.35:1. I've tried source footage that is 16:9 and I still have the same problem. When opening a new file, I use this default setting.

Widescreen 32kHz

For editing with IEEE1394 (FireWire/i.LINK) DV equipment.
Widescreen NTSC video (16:9 interlaced).
32kHz (12/16 bit) audio.
Drop-Frame Timecode numbering.

General
Editing mode: DV Playback
Timebase: 29.97 fps

Video Settings
Frame size: 720h 480v (1.200)
Frame rate: 29.97 frames/second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2)
Color depth: Millions of colors

Does anyone know if I can change something in order to get my preview (output) to fill as much of the screen as possible? I've tried looking for the answer in help files and the memories, but I haven't had much luck. Thanks a lot for any help.

I'm planning on undertaking a slow, sad song to vid and I was wondering if anyone had any general advice on the best way to vid songs like this to best effect. What are some good ways to bring out the emotion in the song? How do you pace it right to make sure it goes with the music without lingering with too long clips? Any other comments about the subject would be great.

Also, if anyone could rec some good vids with slow, sad songs that illustrate how to do this well and better yet, comment on how they do it, it would be much appreciated.

I'm trying to figure out what software I need to download to start experimenting with vidding. I already have WMM and I've downloaded SmartRipper - but I've read I need to install an ASPI layer? I have no idea what it is, or even where to get one.

What do I need to be able to rip successfully?

Can anyone help me out?

Title: Mystic
Fandom: Farscape
Characters: John Crichton/Aeryn Sun
Music: Into the Mystic by Van Morrison.
Spoilers: Through Peacekeeper Wars
Notes: I heard this song for the first time a few months ago while the show Judging Amy was playing in the background, and immediately fell in love with it and wrote down a line of the lyrics and went hunting for it. I was actually surprised to find out who sung it, and that it was an older song.

I'd completed a fair bit of it in a couple days, but there were a few sequences for the chorus that hung me up. Not that I didn't know what to do with it, but because I wanted it to fit what was in my head. Then there was the fact I wanted it 'misty' looking. :p There were several things I tried, but never could get it juuust right.

[livejournal.com profile] tinyelviss had been able to get the look I wanted in a few of his videos, but I was kind of embarrassed to ask how he did it. Finally I said screw it and asked. hehe When he told me, I went back into my plug-ins since Vegas has something similar, but that was one of the things I'd tried previously and it didn't work right. Though, I think that was because...hell, I don't know why it didn't work before. But now it did and that's all that mattered. hehe

It's not often that I find a romantic song that I truly love, and this one just clicked with John and Aeryn, and so here is one of my rare shippy videos. Thank yous should go to [livejournal.com profile] thehallway who let me know I'd hit the right tone, and for [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe for the beta help for a section of this.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Or, The Cup of Perpetual Torment just served to bring it all up to the surface.

Roseability: noun. [<rose + -ability.] Note: Neologism coined by Idlewild in the song "Roseability," in reference to Gertrude Stein's observation that "a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose." Definition: Able to rose.

Yeah, make of that what you will.

Roseability (windows media)
Roseability (divx)

Feedback is welcome and appreciated
