Wow! I'm glad for the bout of insomnia I had this morning, since I might not have downloaded this otherwise. I've never seen the show and don't know anything about it, but I loved this! You made me want to know what's going on. Lovely work, and way to go for keeping my interest for the whole of a long and repetitive song. :-)

Dude, this...this vid is just the epitome of Ryan/Seth, in all their angsty, loving, and often misunderstanding glory! I loved that you showed us Ryan's unconditional love for Seth, even through all the shite he pulls...the moments where Seth is walking out the door, leaving Ryan behind...*whimpers*

It's so happy to see an OC vid...Ryan/Seth are so...viddable! So, thank you, and rock on! *glomps*

(and also, no worries about the song. It works perfectly for the story you are telling, and that to me, seems like the most important factor. ^o^)

Aaaaah. I adore you. Yes, that was my favorite line/clip in the whole video for some reason. It might be a bit meta of course, but dammit, I love Seth despite all the shite he does too!

I don't seem to be getting any flak for it yet, but I was worried, because I'm pretty sure Avril is right up there on the list with Evanescence (or however that's spelled) under: do not vid! But I took the plunge anyway, in favor of the narrative quality over popularity.

I loved the vid. I've never been into slash at all, but The Schwartz makes it pretty hard not to pick up on it between Seth and Ryan, and you did a great job of picking scenes that fit the lyrics.

I also like Avril's music so I had no problem with the song choice whatsoever. It's kind of a pet peeve of mine for people to say that if you vid Avril or Evanescence you're automatically a terrible vidder. You know what? Sometimes they make good vids! So anyway, kudos to you for doing a great vid to this normally shunned artist.

I think in the case of Evanescence and Avril, it's mostly a case of: Oh My God! Another Vid With That Song! Which I completely understand. But at the same time, that sucks, because it's limiting, even if it's setting understandable limits.

*inserts a 'rules were meant to be broken' quote here*

For some reason, this song didn't want to let go of me until I vidded it, and I'm kind of glad it didn't. But I was forced to make the decision whether or not I was vidding for myself or for an audience here. And while obviously it was both --- I knew I was giving up some of that audience by choosing the song artist that I did.

But yes, rules really ARE meant to be broken, and I considere most vidding "rules" more as... guidelines. To be followed in general, because they're SMART, and they're out there for a reason (audience approval, helpful tips, etc), but, at the same time, they're not written in stone. After all, vidding IS a creative process.

Or maybe I'm just still justifying my song choice.

Hey, there! First, a confession: I have never seen the O.C. The only things I know about the characters I got from this vid. And thus, with no competing canon to interfere, the vid told a strangely compelling and coherent story. Well done!
