Blip TV Uploading problems ?

I've successfully uploaded  3 vids to Blip tv - two in the last few days &  one this morning.They all seem to run ok.  This afternoon 3 attempts to upload another vid compressed in the same format (Xvid AVI) and one as WMV (in desperation) has resulted in no video, just audio and a white screen.

I've put in a contact note to Blip but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem recently.  

ETA: I've had my answer '<i>I'm sorry, but we've had to remove your account from blip.tv because we determined that you were posting videos that didn't belong to you. Sometimes when we find this we just remove the videos themselves.  In your case the videos were either major copyright violations or made up a significant enough portion of your show that we felt that the only responsible thing for us to do was to revoke your account.

To be honest I can't be arsed to argue with them so I guess anyone else using the service should be aware.

So much for putting my vids in two places :(

I think I will now definitely bring forward my plan to convert and stream from my own site, as per your tutorial. I can just do it for a few vids and see how it goes.

Wow, that's a bit rough, considering they had that whole thing about derivative works and it being okay if the clips were less than 30 seconds and so on. I've uploaded one vid there... guess I won't be doing any more!

You may be lucky and they not notice it, but I hit problems when I uploaded a Buffy Vid. The movie ones weren't a problem.

thanks for the update. I'll take another look at private embedding on Viddler for vids that may not hold up well to BAM's low fps playback.

I have the software and the know-how to host streaming vids on my site, but the encoding process is already such a pain in the ass, I hate to add yet another step to it.

If you didn't have problems with your vids then you may be okay, for a while at least.

And yes, GRAR is about the noise I made and agree about the hassle of having something else to do with a vid. It'll be a low priority for me, I'd rather be making new vids.

That's that, sadly. I'm going to write my webhosts and see if I can stream from my site without causing a Slashcity meltdown. And read up on Viddler again.

A part of me likes competition but not at the expense of diminishing options for you or the experience of rejection anyone has to go through. If all goes as planned tomorrow I will have options that will make this almost a non issue once and for all. I've done a lot of research on alternatives - a lot and there are a few tricks to get the music playing again.

Thanks, at this stage I'm kind of a 'shoulder shrug' and thinking that it was only 3 vids on there so far.

I still plan to use BAM as my streaming home, it's shaping up to be a nice community - I know of all the effort you've been putting in there lately and have to say it makes all the difference.

You should look into hostong your files at http://archive.org. It's definitely not flashy like these other video hosting sites, but they are nonprofit and are philosophically intune with derivative and fairuse works.

Of course, please do your own research on the site before using, but just scanning through their media should be evidence where they stand.
