hello,
i'm a first-time vidder. i did follow the links in the memories of this community (though not necessarily BEFORE starting this project). i have reached the point where all the debate and information about things blended in my brain into one big confused question mark. some things you just get by doing them. so i jumped in.
i read about colour schemes and decided that that's advanced stuff.
i know one can edit the audio to make it shorter. again, i decided that's above beginners' stage.
i am aware of the "this particular clip is overused" debate. i took a shot an ran with a couple obvious choices anyway, because a) this is my very first vid and getting a grip on the basics was challenge enough and b) i think the fellowship in slo-mo and close-up coming up through the rocks does work in this narrative. there is a reason it was the first movie teaser/trailer.
after various versions of this,
xkatjafx pointed out to me that cutting in synch with the rhythm is vital. so that became my main goal for this one. you may say "duh". but i am a lyrics minded person in my overall music consumption, so the beat simply slipped past my attention. i never thought beats could be so inconsistent throughout a piece! no, i have no clue whatsoever about musical theory, why do you ask?
i think i have gotten as far as i can with this song and this video at this stage of my skill. but there's always the next project. so comments, critique and feedback are more than welcome. constructive criticism is what'll eventually make me a decent vidder.
oh, it's a boromir piece. but it also got a fair bit of aragorn ;-)
