Hi,
I´m pretty much a newbie at vidding and I have a (maybe stupid)question concerning how to make transitions that look kinda like a white (or black) flash between clips. How do I create that effect with Premiere? Is it just a very quick cross dissolve? Sorry if that`s been asked before, but I browsed the memories and couldn`t find anything about that kind of transition.Thank you in advance for any help.

For white flashes, I've used a couple of different things in Premiere (I have Pro 1.5), depending upon how I want the flash to look:

- as you mentioned, you can use a quick cross dissolve in/out of a white matte.
- for something a little more dynamic looking, use a quick additive dissolve instead of the cross dissolve. With the additive dissolve, you'll want to adjust the transition amount (i.e., you don't need to go to 100% because it can be a bit blinding).
- lately I've also used the ProcAmp effect (keyframing the brightness variable), which looks a lot like the white matte/additive dissolve method, except there's no need to create a white matte.
