plagiarism

I'm here to let you know about two cases of plagiarism I've discovered today in the Alias fandom. One of the offenders also makes vids for Dark Angel, Pretender, Roswell, Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Smallville - if you're vidding for these fandoms you might have been plagiarised.

The multi-fandom offender is VOKAL (known as such on multiple Alias mesageboards and I suspect on the other fandoms' boards as well).

The website where she lists all her videos is Anarchy Entertainment. She doesn't store these vids there only happily announces that she makes them available by selling them - yes, she makes money off other people's edits!

Her videos can be sometimes found linked on message boards - that's how I came across this vid, which used multiple edits/cuts from my videos (a list of particulars would be too long to post here but I will gladly make it if you require seeing one. In the meantime, I explained the matter in more detail in this post.)

The other offender is SALLENE and the videos she "made" are posted here. Her Sark video "Famour Monster" is comprised entirely of my edits/cuts. Her other video Mourning includes cuts from my Jack/Irina videos as well as other edits I don't recognize (might be yours). She has other videos up I haven't seen (including Sydney vids and Vaughn vids) that are bound to include stolen footage.

Again, I can provide proof for every stolen edit, including frames which have been incorrectly pixelized when saved in Adobe Premiere (she uses Media Maker, surprise, surprise), proof of which video of mine was butchered, anything you need. In the meantime you can read how she accepts praise for work that's not hers here. I explained the matter in more detail and included highlights of the things she said in this post. This one is wank in the making, people.

My favorite must have been when Sallene was asked about a particular scene she used in one of her vids and she was unable to provide information about which episode/scene this footage came from!

Actually, scratch that, my favorite is when Sallene says: So far, I haven't found any other Alias vids on there. I wonder how she got all of my edits then!!!

I've emailed both offenders and politely asked them to:
a) remove plagiarised work from their servers,
b) delete all posts in which they link to "their" work, posts which include feedback they don't deserve.
c) admit publicly to having plagiarised somebody else's work and appologise to all who were convinced the work was legit and provided feedback.

If I don't hear back from these offenders, I will humbly request that all vidders that are outraged at this kind of behaviour help me bring these people down.

I would appreciate it if this post was linked in your journals to spread the word about these offenders in case there are vidders out there who might have been plagiarised by one of them and are completely unaware of it.

UPDATE: Sallene has since emailed me back with an apology, apologized publicly, and removed all offending videos from her website. I have since locked all LJ entries pertaining to this matter since I consider it closed.
