Please send your vid to Vividcon, even if you're not going!
So let's say you're not making it to Vividcon this year. Or maybe not any year. But! You still want to show your shiny new vid at the con so other vidders and vid-fans can see it.
That's what the Non-Attending Premieres show is intended for. If you want to premiere your never-seen-before, brand new vid in a vidshow with nothing but other premieres, this is the show to send your vids to. Lots of vidders and vid fans will get to see your vids on the big screen.
I'm the Non-Attending VJ for the Non-Attending Premieres show - I'm in Europe and have only been to Vividcon once, but this way I get to participate a bit, too. I watch the vids come in and try to arrange them in the best possible order for the vidshow.
And I am posting this call for vids early, because I WANT MORE VIDS.
I would love to see a bigger, broader Non-Attending Premieres vidshow with a ton of fantastic vids from all corners of fandom.
When's the deadline?
The deadline for Non-Attending Premieres seems far away: June 28, 2013.
But as I know all too well, that long, long span of months can suddenly collapse into a handful of days of panic!?! So, to start your panicking early, please consider that you can submit up to two vids for this vidshow, and you can submit your vid anytime between right now and the deadline.
What are the rules for submitting a vid to a Premieres show?
Premiering vids must never have been shown at any previous con, released in a collection, or posted publicly online. Posting to a streaming video site like Youtube or Vimeo is public posting. Please don't post your vid anywhere until the Vividcon Non-Attending Premieres are over! Otherwise, we'd have to pull it from the show, and that would be a pity.
Also: if you submit a premiering vid, you give permission to distribute this vid on the Vividcon dvd.
There are no rules for your vid's content. As the Vividcon FAQ says: "VividCon is an equal opportunity con. Our goal is to give vidders and vid fans a place where they can share and see a wide range of vids. We do not judge or discriminate against vids for genre, sexual orientation, source, fandom, age, technique, or even if we think they're in poor taste or badly made."
One caveat: it's a 45 minute vidshow, so if I get more vids than I can fit in, I may have to drop some. If this happens to a vid of yours, I'll e-mail beforehand so there won't be any last minute surprises.
