.avi Codec/Adobe Premiere Question

Hi all!

I was considering downloading the trial version of Adobe Premiere. Most of my video files are in .wmv format but I've recently DL'd a new fandom that are in .avi format so I figured I'd try Premiere out using these so I won't have to convert a bunch of .wmv to .avi. Anway, I'm totally clueless about codecs - do I need to download any to import & use the .avi files in Premiere? (I may try Sony Vegas after this, so the question applies to that program as well).

Any hep with the codec question or any help for Adobe Premiere in general would be much appreciated!

CALLING ALL S&H VIDDERS!!

The most fabulous Starsky & Hutch con, SHarecon, is zooming up close! The con is held over Columbus Day Weekend (Oct 8-10/11) near Baltimore, MD. More info on SHarecon registration and the rest here: sharecon

And what I'm putting a call out for is VIDS for the VID SHOW!!

Every year, SHarecon puts on a fabulous vid show, and this year we're including some historic vids from the early days, when vidding history began. (We are SO SPOILED with our fancy video editing software!)

But we WANT premieres, too! We need your vids! If you're working on one, or have one in mind, PLEASE consider sending it for the con! Vid submission deadline is September 15. (Need a little more time? ASK! We can bend that date.)

If you have a non-premiering vid that you'd like to show, please also submit those but be cognizant that premieres get priority when time and space in the show get considered.

One request: If you want to premiere your vid, you are asked to not post your vid online until after Monday, Oct 11, when the con is over.

BRING ON THE VIDS! 1. Send your highest quality video - biggest file - you can. Remember, this is going to be projected onto a screen/wall and the sharper it is, the better it will look.

This is a nice upload area for Flamingo to gather them all in once place. In the "meaningful description" box, include your fannish name and the title of the song and any other info you feel the need to share. :)
