DIY Video Summit: Registration is open!

24/7 DIY Video Summit is a 3-day conference featuring screenings, academic panels, and workshops on a variety of DIY video genres and their impact on the media, and on the world. The conference is scheduled for February 8 - 10, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA.

Vidding, AMVs, and Machinima will be featured in the screenings and discussions, and we'll also get to meet academics who are writing about fan works, video artists from other genres, and representatives from DivX and other technology companies whose work supports what we do.

All screenings are free and open to the public, but registration is required for the academic track and the workshops, and space is limited. Hope you can make it!

I hereby announce the inaugural multi-fandom Moving Words and Pictures Flashfic Challenge!

There have been several challenges now in which fanart or songvids were made in response to fic. I thought it would be fun to swap it around and have a challenge in which we wrote the fic to go with our favourite songvid!

Announcing the 3rd multividious Challenge: Light & Dark

Dark/Light. Light/Dark.

Interpret this prompt in absolutely any way you wish! Feel free to use only one of these words: only Light, or only Dark. Or use the combination of Light & Dark, Light vs Dark. Or maybe they mix to become Gray? Possibilities could include a purely visual effect of lightness or darkness. Other possible interpretations could be symbolic or thematic in context--Good & Evil.

This is a multi-fandom/crossover community, so the only requirement is that the video must include at least 2 different tv shows or movies. Live-action & animation are both welcome. Vidlets are also welcome.

This challenge runs November 1st - December 31st. Videos can be posted to the community at any time during the challenge.
