In Sentinel fandom, a new vid was recently announced. In the comments, one person said, "There aren't enough good TS vids being made seems like," and another responded, "I always try to look up vids for [a new fandom], so I can get a visual feel for it. I could only find a couple for The Sentinel..."
Now, I know that there are LOTS of great Sentinel vids out there, by some extremely talented vidders. The problem is finding them, if you're a new fan, or an older fan who ditzily forgets to bookmark sites. (That wouldn't be me, of course. ::whistles innocently::)
So, I contacted the
Cascade Library staff, and they are willing to put up a page of vid-links. Cascade Library is gen only. But when I mentioned this on the Senad mailing list, Tamy at Senad.org said she'd be willing to do a vid-link page for slashy vids.
Consequently, I'm collecting vidders' names, sites, and vids, slash or gen. But I don't know many, since I'm on dialup; downloading takes so long that I don't do it often. However, I'd like to see a full page of links; interested fans should be able to find vids as easily as they find fanfic.
So, if you'd like your vids listed on the link-page, and if you haven't already heard from me (I've been emailing anyone I could find), visit
my post here, and leave your information.
For those in other fandoms -- I have a poll up; do you prefer to be known as an 'author', 'creator', or 'vidder'? Feel free to leave your opinion; I'd like more input.
And -- if you like this idea, and would like to see it implemented in your fandom, the idea is free for the taking. Maybe you can convince your own archive-sites to implement a similar page.
