So hey. I'm looking for a song editing mentor who wouldn't mind acting as a sounding board (oh, gah, pun not intended) in my freshmen adventures in song editing. In all cases I know what I want the song to end up sounding like, but I'm having a bit of trouble getting there and I'm just looking for someone who'd be willing to listen to my attempts and offer suggestions. Sooooo....basically a song beta, if you will.
There are two songs that I'm currently trying to edit into submission. The first is actually a co-edited project, so it's not just me seeking guidence--
mordororbust and I are making a vid to the song "I'll Remember" by Madonna. (And, yes, feel free to judge our newbie pop music vidding, though it probably won't make an ounce of difference—not only have we embraced our shame, we are ridiculously fond of the concept. *g*) We're cutting out two segments at the end of the song and have failed miserably in making it seamless. On the second song I'm flying solo; it's "Blue Caravan" by Vienna Teng. I'm trying to cut out the middle verse, which translates to about 50 seconds. For each I've got a draft of the edited song (or many drafts in the case of "I'll Remember"), but, as you might guess from this post, they are rather unpolished.
Also, if anyone could recommend a good guide for audio editing (especially audio editing on a mac), that would be great. I've read (and reread and reread and reread again)
heresluck's
audio editing post, but if there are any others that people could recommend I would appreciate it!
Aaaand, though I don't know if this matters, I've been doing all of the song editing so far on Final Cut Pro.
Help please! Thanks. *g*
