Starsky&Hutch Tom Lehrer - starting Blakes 7 episode fragments

I've been remaking Blakes 7 videos, and trying to increase interest in the show. It didn't play much in the US, so I've been building pages of relationship and character illustrated script fragments to help with the show background, and make the music videos more approachable. Now I'm adding some MP4 episode fragments so that people can hear the voices of these characters. Both the Avon and Blake actors were trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, and their voices are marvelous. The first two episode fragments are from the 2nd episode, Space Fall, the first episode with both Blake and Avon.

AVI codec in Premiere 6.0

I've been vidding in WMM for a while now and I've decided that I've outgrown the program and it's time for me to upgrade to better software. I have a copy of Premiere 6.0, but every time I try to import an avi it gives me an error and sometimes it even shuts down. Some of my files are episodes I've downloaded, so they're probably using DivX or XviD codecs. Others are DVD rips. I use DVD Shrink and VirtualDubMod to rip and convert.

I went through the memories and did some trial and error, but I still can't get the files to import. I've tried converting them to both Huffy and Indeo (both were recs I found in the memories), but neither codec wants to import to Premiere. Can anybody help me out with this? What codec should I be converting to? Any help would by hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Last time I was here I asked if anyone knew of a vidding comm for lost, someone gave me lovely directions and I posted over there asking if anyone would be interested in watching my lost vid and telling me what they thought. I'm having a great deal of difficulty getting into the characters and such.
No one at the lost comm has been interested so if there is a lost fan out there willing, all I need is a constructive opinion. If you're interested in helping comment here or over at my vid journal theframechange
