"The Man's Too Strong" by Dire Straits, newly remade, just went up (39 MB; MP4). It's a very early video with movement to music and POV experiments. Centers on secondary characters.

Files are now zipped and require manual intervention to download. You have to click on the link in your BROWSER. What you'll get is a page that asks you to put in a number. Type in the number, then click on the download button and it will give you a zipped file you have to save and unzip to play. We had a problem with incomplete downloads which is now fixed.

Buying a Mac

Hey, so. I'm buying a new computer, and I'd like to get a Mac that would be decent for vidding. I'm tentatively thinking a 15" powerbook, but I've never owned a Mac before, and I don't know what the hardware essentials are for video editing, so I'd like a bit of guidance. So, uh. What should I get? Or, rather, what system would you get, and what would you consider absolutely nessisary in terms of specifications?

Also, if anyone knows of any good technical guides that are Mac specific, I'd love if you could link them--most of the information that I've found has been for pcs, which has been wonderful...until now.

First post! I love this community....and I thought I was the only freaky wierdo who wanted to set my favorite characters to music. :)

I am a huge Buffy and Angel fan. This was my first attempt at a vid...I did this with Vegas 4 around May of '05. I have been hopelessly addicted ever since. Feel free to take a look. I hope you like.

Converting from VOB to AVI or MPEG

Does anybody know of a good, free or very low cost program for converting VOB files to AVI or MPEG? I've ripped DVDs using DVD Shrink, but they come out in VOB, which is not very useful. I tried using the DivX converter, but as far as I can tell it only converts to DivX, not AVI or MPEG. Any help would be SO appreciated. :)

EDIT: After trying a bunch of suggestions below, as well as ones from people on my flist, I found something that works for me. Thanks to all who offered help and suggestions!

New member-first attempt

Simply cos I wanted to make one for artword and needed to teach myself how.
It's really really crap, but it helped my learning process.
I was trying to fiddle too much with the music, so I gave up. I'm just a newbie.

"High Time" by the Grateful Dead is up

"High Time" by the Grateful Dead, newly remade, just went up (44 MB; MP4). It's a VERY early video and needed so much work that the only thing this has in common with the original is the first scene. It's a soft ballady piece with nice underlying symbolism and story. Kirk to Spock.
