I need a beta for a Farscape vid. If interested, please e-mail me at nelbarkley@comcast.net. It's set at the end of season three with general action adventury themes.

Okay, here we go with another introduction.

I vid as sockii, and I've been into vidding for about three years now (making them, at least--I've loved watching them for years before that.) I vid Brimstone, Hong Kong films...whatever strikes my fancy and that tends to be fairly odd fandoms. I'm an analog vidder though I hope to be able to upgrade my computer at some point next year so I can give digital vidding a try. I don't have anything on-line but I'm always interested in trading tapes...or if any of you digital vidders ever make your stuff available on cd or vcd, I'd love to know how to get copies. I'm especially interested in Witchblade, Smallville, and Buffy vids, but my interet connection sucks so it's really hard for me to download most video files. :-(

Anyway, that's all for now. Glad to see a vidding LJ community at last!

OK, I'm buying a new system. My old piece of junk has finally decided to allow me to run only Outlook or IE (not at the same time) and nothing else ... 64MB of Ram, sigh ... and I'm out of ports to put new stuff in.

So I want to buy something ... looking at Dell ... hopefully I can get them to put W2KPro on it for me instead of XP, but anyway. Is anybody currently vidding on a Dell and if so do you like it, and what video card and such do you recommend? I'd like to get the built in CD burner - they have a CD/DVD combo drive to choose ... also which video card are you using, I'm torn between the GEForce 4 and the Raedon.

Any advice before I spend my life savings would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm Reema. I'm very new to vid-making; I started, about a year ago, with access to predigitized footage, a couple of instructional yahoogroups, and some tangentially related film editing websites. I've been playing around with VirtualDub, which is pretty and cool, but I think I'd like to try out non-linear editing soon.

Most of my vidding projects have been experimental and incomplete, but I occasionally post storyboards (exciting!) and WIPs: currently, I'm working on a Farscape vid (zipped Windows Media format, 3.9 megs). (I've also produced Buffy vids, and I plan to someday finish one to Bif Naked's "Tango Shoes." I want very much to do The Talented Mr. Ripley to "Frank Sinatra," by Cake, as soon as I get the means to capture.)

And I'm always happy to beta stuff, so if anyone ever wants any help on that...
