The DCMA requires YouTube to remove the video first, then notify you. They're not allowed to keep it up once the copyright owner has complained. You're allowed to file a counter-notice if you think the video wasn't actually infringing, and if you win, YouTube puts it back up.
As for your account, I thought YouTube had a three-strikes-and-you're-out policy... Could it be that they removed several of your vids at once?
