vidding with multiple sources?

Hello! I have an idea for a vid I want to make centered on a musician, using footage of interviews, performances, and music videos. I now realize that I have more than ten sources from which I want to edit clips, and each of these sources is in a different format, with different aspect ratios, frames per second, etc.

Clip 1:
H.264, 1280 × 720, 0.008999999999999999 fps, 1.80 Mbps

Clip 2:
H.264, 640 × 320, 0.003 fps, 600 kbps

Clip 3:
224 MPEG-2, 1920 × 1080, 16:9, 29.97 fps, 65.00 Mbps, upper field first

Clip 4:
224 MPEG-2, 720 × 576, 16:9, 29.97 fps, 9.00 Mbps, progressive

Clip 5:
224 MPEG-2, 720 × 480, 4:3, 29.97 fps, 9.50 Mbps, lower field first

And so on and so forth.

Is this venture doomed from the start? I know it's been done before, but I'm also still a relative n00b. Does anyone have any advice or know of any guides for this sort of project using Final Cut Pro? Thanks!

which program do you use?
Should be possible so cut a 4:3 video into a 16:9 clip. Don't think that yo actually can see the difference with the framerate.

And there is a program "SUPER", you can transver almost every source into another format:

I strongly recommend following [livejournal.com profile] thingswithwings' process for making multi-source vids (http://thingswithwings.dreamwidth.org/73210.html?thread=2518778#ljcmt2518778). I have made a few, but it was her guidance that made the last one easy for me.

I use FCP too, so let me know if I can provide additional info.

My pleasure! I only wish I'd known this years ago. (:

Native means clipping at the native aspect ratio. Yes, that means rendering any clips that don't match your pre-set. Trust me: it's worth it.

So glad I could help!

I don't know how to do it, but I do know it's not doomed from the started as I have seen vids that have done it. Seems to be a particular issue in bandom, because of the necessity of using high-quality widescreen-optimized music video & documentary footage from official DVDs combined with shitty quality live shows and interviews off youtube. It can be done!
