Newbie + Question

Hello, I'm new here *waves* and I'm a little nervous posting because, as a newbie, I don't want to ask a stupid question, however I can't find the answer in the tags. My question is this: I have Sony Vegas Pro 10, and I'm currently doing a video. My converted HD files are around 1.8/2.2 gigs and takes a while to import, so to keep Vegas from getting cranky I import 5-6 of the files at a time (24 in all). When I close the program or click away, the  media goes off line and Vegas has to load all the files again, this time all 24, which makes Vegas go unresponsive as it loads and most of the time I have to close it.

Is there any tip or trick to fix this? I have 4 gbs of RAM, I run Windows 7 *64 bit. The files converted perfectly, and they play in Vegas so I know it's not a codec or format issue.

Have you unticked the "close media files/audio and MIDI ports when not the active application"-boxes in the general preferences? (option -> preferences -> register card "general")

That's the only thing I can think of to prevent this from happening, but I hope it'll help. :o)

No worries, I learned it the hard way, too! ^^

Glad I could help. :o)

That's very helpful to know, thank you! :)

[livejournal.com profile] ltcmdnr - there's seriously no such thing as a stupid question. For every question you have, I'm sure there's someone out there who wants to ask the same thing, so don't be afraid to ask! :)
