Windows 7 Woes

I had to get a new computer and now have the Windows 7 operating system. I was devastated when I found it didn't come with Windows Movie Maker. I have tried tracking down the program but it seems every download I find goes through the windows update and will not work. Is there anywhere to find just Windows Movie Maker?

If not I'll need another movie making program if I want to get back to vidding. (I'm in withdraw now) Are there any good free ones out there?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Windows Live Movie Maker is free over here and seems to be what you're looking for?

*not a windows user, unfortunately, so I'm not sure if it's the same.

Have you tried asking at www.papajohn.org? They have lots of troubleshooting advice for WMM users. I notice they have a folder (to the left of the page) about Windows7

I found an article at Bright Hub that addresses this, and they recommend a version of WMM that was designed for Vista users who were having trouble with WMM that came packaged with their OS. Apparently this works with Windows 7. The URL was huge so I've shrunk it: http://preview.tinyurl.com/yaozyz8.

They also mention that the Windows Live version of WMM for Windows 7 has a load of the old version's features stripped out.

Yay, awesome! Not sure if it will have all the features of your previous version, but the fact it's working is a step in the right direction :o)

Just some suggestions

Hi,

I'm very sorry for troubles.

I was wondering if by any chance you are using a version of Nero because Nero has a video editing program that is quite similar to WMM. I'm asking because I myself had Nero a long time before I accidentally discovered this little fact...

Then you have also the option to use the 30 days free trials of programs like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere until you find a permanent solution, just to help the withdrawal :)

Hope this helps.
