Sony Vegas "error exception" and crashing

I feel like I could cry.
I've suddenly started getting the "an exception has occurred" error messages on my project and it keeps shutting down Vegas. I've "save as" and renamed the project but it is still happening.
I can't even work on the video for 10 minutes. If I lose this video, I'll be heartbroken as I've already put a lot of work into it and I'll never be able to duplicate it.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I had this problem using a trial version.

I thought perhaps it was because the video I made was a very large file. After I tried saving it in a different format, I didn't have the problem again.

That's a good idea. Once I uninstalled and reinstalled the software, it's working a bit better. I can open the project and edit/add clips. But I can't render - even in chunks. I'll try rendering in a different format and see if that works.
